About Us
What is this?
Greenpeace is a global, independent campaigning organization that uses peaceful protest and creative communication to expose global environmental problems and promote solutions that are essential to a green and peaceful future. We believe that the best chance we have to fight climate change is with people power.
This is a new project to allow you to start, run and deliver your own events with the tools to help make it a success and the location to recruit other Greenpeace supporters and volunteer in your area. Events are one of the best ways to get people involved. People get to take action, learn about campaigns, deepen their commitment, and build relationships with each other.
What can I run an event on?
What have you noticed that needs fixing? Where do you see an opportunity for positive change? Greenpeace is an environmental organization but your event doesn't need to be limited to particular issues.
When starting an event the most important step is to get the ball rolling - don't worry about getting everything 100% right. Even experienced, professional campaigners make mistakes and often change tack as things develop. You don't need to be an expert to launch an event, you just need to be willing to learn new things along the way.
What can't I create an event on?
We expect to see all kinds of events. That's fine with us, as long as it's not defamatory, discriminatory, illegal you get the idea.
It comes down to this: does your campaign promote or incite violence? Does it promote bullying, or advocate discrimination based on someone's gender, sex, religion, ethnicity, nationality or sexual orientation? Is it defamatory? No? Excellent. We're all good.
We reserve the right to use our judgment and take something down if it crosses a line of common decency, so take responsibility for your campaign.
